Wednesday, January 9 - Friday, January 11
On Wednesday, we visited CityU and had a tour of their campus. We saw their residence halls and viewed a standard double room. We then enjoyed a lunch buffet at City Top Restauraunt and spent the rest of the afternoon touring the Wireless Communications Research Centre. On Thursday, we had a more specialized tour of the campus and separated into smaller groups according to major. With the ECE/CS group, we saw various research labs and viewed some very innovative student projects. We visited a lab which specialized in the developing of virtual reality simulations which was particularly interesting because of its application in rehabilitation of abused children. We then visisted the Center of Super Diamond and Advanced Films (COSDAF) where we were briefly introduced to the process of diamond making. On Friday, we attended a seminar on Chinese history and culture where we learned about the making of Chinese tea and enjoyed a traditional Chiense musical performance. From my experiences at City University, I can say that I was pretty impressed with the university and with the city of Hong Kong and would strongly consider a semester long or summer term stay.
